Types of floor drains and analysis of their advantages and disadvantages

1. Shallow water seal floor drain: Shallow water seal floor drain has a long history. Its defect is that if it is not used for a few days, the odor and pests of the sewer pipe will drive straight into the shallow water seal because there is no water in the water trap. The water is easy to dry up, and the high drainage pressure of the floor will cause the water seal to be damaged, and the shallow water seal floor drain has gradually been covered.
2. Deep water seal floor drain: In order to overcome the above drawbacks, some manufacturers increase the water seal to about 7-8cm, and use quartz sand to do the test, which shows that the water flow is fast, and the sand can be flushed out without clogging.
3. Wide-mouth water-sealed floor drain: Wide-mouth water-sealed floor drain is an upgraded version of deep water-sealed floor drain. The drain outlet of this wide-mouth water-sealed floor drain is designed with a single drain outlet, which can achieve fast drainage without clogging, and the water seal can block 100% and deodorize. Insect proof. At present, the price of this kind of floor drain is higher. Advantages: Can effectively deodorize for a long time. Disadvantages: There are few products on it and the price is expensive.

4. The water-sealed floor drain with the buckle cup: The principle of the floor drain with the buckle cup is that a piece protrudes from the back of the cover and the inside of the floor drain body forms a water seal to deodorize. However, because the water seal is very shallow, the effective water seal that really works is only about half a centimeter. As long as the toilet upstairs is flushed, the positive and negative pressure in the pipe will destroy the water in the floor drain.
5. Spring-type floor drain: divided into up-and-down type. The spring-up type is to press the cover plate, the cover plate bounces up, and if pressed again, it will reset; the spring-down type is to use the spring to stretch the sealing gasket at the lower end of the sealing core to seal. Since the spring is made of boron iron, it is easy to corrode and its elasticity gradually increases. It will weaken until it fails, and the life is not long. In addition, the spring is easy to entangle the hair and fabric, and it is not easy to clean. Advantages: good deodorant effect. Disadvantages: slow drainage, and easy to block for home use.
6. Flap floor drain: It is to use gravity to open when there is water, and close when there is no water. It looks like it will deodorize, but the actual use is quite different. Disadvantages: These self-sealing floor drains are not deodorant, easy to block, and have a short lifespan. Advantages: There are more choices of panel styles.
7. Floating ball floor drain: use the buoyancy of water to float a ball to close the drain to achieve deodorant function. When the water flows into the drain outlet of the floor drain, the buoyancy of the water lowers the floating ball and floats the sewage out. When there is no water, the floating ball will close the drain to achieve the sealing function. Frequent cleaning is required. Disadvantages: poor drainage function, easy to block, easy to retain dirt to cushion the floating ball and lose the sealing function. Advantages: long life.
8. Plastic basket floor drain: A plastic basket is used instead of the buckle bowl. This is another form of water-sealed floor drain, but it is more convenient to clean.
9. Eccentric block type sealed floor drain: The bottom of the floor drain is sealed with a plastic pad with a lead sink on one side. The sealing is not tight, and the metal pins are easy to rust, damage, fail, and have a short life.
